"La Nueva Combinacion" takes listeners on a tropical journey with 3 generations of Salsa stars. This is the one CD that Salsa lovers should not be without. Where can you hear Tito Allen, Johnny Rivera, Ray Sepulveda, George Lamond, Junior Gonzalez and others all in the same place? La Nueva Combinacion by Grupo Transito features artists from 3 generations and new music that is sure to pique the interest of salsa buffs around the globe. Other salsa CD's may have one or two hits on it, but La Nueva Combinacion keeps them coming track after track. Spearheaded by Angel Fernandez, the CD boasts "Son Para Ustedes" a tribute to El Gran Combo, sung as a duet by Ray Sepulveda and Johnny Rivera. This is the first time Johnny and Ray have teamed up since their 1995 smash hit "No Vale la Pena," and it's sure to put the duo on the top of the charts again. Familiar favorites like Tito Allen and Junior Gonzalez are in full swing with songs like "Maria Novela" and "Boricua con Sabor Cubano" that are sure to fill the dance floor. Allen also shines on the Fernandez composition "Aprenderan El Idioma," where he sings about the New York/Caribbean flavors that created the international language of Ray Barretto, Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz, etc. Generation X Salseros like Lamond and Alexa Rojas make up 4 tracks on this remarkable CD. George and rapper Ernesto Escalona put a slight Reggaetton twist on Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe's "Ah-Ah/Oh-No." Alexa shows off her powerful vocal chords and wide range on the gut- wrenching "Lo Eres Todo." Finally, the CD introduces the youngest contributor to La Nueva Combinación, 16 year old Luis Figueroa Roig. One listen to "Esta Cobardia" and this phenom will have young people making room for salsa on their ipods. Angel Fernandez is no stranger to Salsa, having been the trumpeter, guitarist and Musical Director for Marc Anthony's Salsa Band for over a decade. He has produced for Anthony, Michael Stuart, Domingo Quinones, Obie Bermudez, and arranged for countless others, including Celia and Barretto's 1990 Grammy winning "Ritmo En El Corazon" and Spanish Harlem Orchestra's 2005 Grammy winner "Across 110th Street." Fernandez also directed David Byrne's "Rei Momo" tour and appears as performer, arranger and composer on that and other Byrne records. This CD by Grupo Transito is the culmination of Angel's dedication to finding just the right ingredients to make La Nueva Combinacion. Salsa never tasted so rich!
