JAZZ VIBES: LOUNGE SELECTION (2006) Continuing where the 'Club Selection' left off, but taking things down a gear or two, here we take a further look at the influence 'Jazz Vibes' continue to have on credible producer, artists and labels alike. Although this one (as the name might suggest) does have more of a laidback, dark and smokey feel than its predecessor, don't let the 'lounge' tag mislead you too much, as this album still runs an impressively vibrant gauntlet between head nodding downtempo grooves, syncopate broken beats and evocatively cool deep house. So, onto the all important tracks. As ever, you'll find a wonderfully balanced mix of old, new, borrowed & blue here. Previously unreleased gems include a couple of cool new tracks from our Italian friends Mondeluxe and The Halftones. Manchester also takes a bow or two (naturally) introducing a cool little ditty from upcoming producer Jamie Finlay (a name to watch) and we're also proud to present a stunning new song from highly respected veterans Jersey Street, which is the first peek at material they are working on for a new album project, which truly makes the mouth water in anticipation. And that's before we get to the tracks that have already had an outing, from such highly respected labels as; Sunshine, Freerange, Phuture Lounge, Irma & Arision.

Here the Vibes series takes a look at the influence 'that old devil called jazz' continues to have on contemporary producers looking to get the dancefloor moving with real musicians playing real instruments. These are 'jazz vibes' for the 21st century with a respectful nod to the jazz musicians of the past and a succinct snapshot of where the contemporary dancefloor take on the sound is currently at. The tracks featured, run the gauntlet from sophisticated house floorfillers to more live organic sounds via a foray into edgier electro-tinged broken beats. Some tracks you may well know; Sleepwalker's 'Into The Sun', Trevor Loveys 'Lotta Livin' from Freerange, 'Fort Green Jazzamatazz' from Brooklyn Soul Boys (Catch 22) as well as several tracks from Bellcrash on Vienna's Sunshine Records. But you will also find buried here amongst them a minefield of new jazz-influenced gems from the likes of Rhythm Slaves, Jafrosax, Deep Solution & of course one or two new exclusive productions from Mettle Music's own label.
