The legendary Harvie S has
performed with many of the masters in music including Stan Getz, Chet Baker,
Dexter Gordon, Jim Hall, Michael Brecker, Gil Evans, Arturo O'Farrill, Lee
Konitz, James Moody, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Houston Person, Pat Metheny, Art Farmer,
Toots Thielemans, Tommy Flanagan, Roland Hanna, Dr. Billy Taylor, Joe Lovano,
Yusef Lateef, Danilo Perez, Paquito D'Rivera, Ray Barretto and Mark Turner. He
can be heard on over several hundred CDs as a sideman, eleven as a leader and
another fifteen as a co-leader with such greats as James Brown, Chick Corea,
Mike Stern, John Scofield, David Leibman, Tom Harrell, Pucho and the Latin Soul
Brothers, Kenny Barron, Pat Martino, Joey Baron, Erik Friedlander, Grover
Washington Jr., JIm Rotundi, Eric Alexander, David Mathews, Vincent Herring,
Eddie Henderson and Joe Locke.

the standard for bass and voice performance.
Over 100 Harvie S compositions
have been recorded on CDs, records and videos.
In addition to his performance
career Harvie S has held the jazz bass instructor position at The Manhattan
School of Music for both undergraduate and graduate divisions since 1984.
He has been a guest lecturer at
Rutgers University, New York University, Yale University, McGill University,
Berklee College of Music, SUNY Purchase, Patterson College, the Eisler School in
Berlin, The Eastman School of Music, The New England Conservatory, SUNY
Plattsburg, The New School and numerous other colleges and universities
worldwide.
Harvie is a recipient of many
major grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on
the Arts, ASCAP and Meet the Composer and the Fund for U.S. Artists.
He has been a guest on NPRs "All
Things Considered" and "Fresh Air." His career is documented in Leonard
Feather's Encyclopedia of Jazz, the Grove Dictionary of Jazz and the All Music
Guide. Harvie S has written the themes for the documentaries The Trumpet Kings,
The Piano Legends and John Coltrane and can been seen and heard on the music
videos of Toots Thielemans, Pat Martino, Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton, Jane Ira
Bloom and others.
The Harvie S Trio has played to
rave reviews at festivals and clubs worldwide such as The Iridium, The Blue Note, The

bold new music contains the harmonic sophistication of jazz with the
extraordinary rhythmic intensity of Latin music to transport the listener to an

In June of 2008 Harvie S directs
the the jazz and tap ("jance") tribute to Lost Shrines:Jazzmania, featuring Phil
Woods, at Tribeca Performing Arts Center.
The Harvie S Duo CD with Kenny
Barron will be released on High Note records during the summer of 2008.
