ELLIOTT CAINE QUINTET - BLUES FROM MARS (2006) The newest recording, "Blues From Mars", features some of the best musicians in Los Angeles with guest appearances by Justo Almario on tenor sax, D.J. Bonebrake on vibes, and Munyungo Jackson on percussion. Elliott's two previous releases "Orientaion" and "Le Supercool" were met with glowing reviews and elevated his appearances on the Los Angeles jazz scene. ELLIOTT CAINE - LE SUPERCOOL (2001) Original music influenced by '60's "hard bop" and Afro-Cuban jazz. Soul con Salsa The newest recording, "Le Super Cool", has most of the musicians from "Orientation", but with some new faces: Elliott Caine plays trumpet; Michael Rose plays tenor sax on most selections, with Chuck Manning and Justo Almario performing on tenor for one song apiece; Peter Aplanalp handles most of the baritone sax work, with David Ralicke playing bari on one song; Justin Reinhardt is again the pianist, with guest artist, Greg Kurstin, playing organ on one selection; Anthony Wilson plays guitar on one song, as well; Willie McNeil and Joel Alpers divide up the drum work, while Ramon Banda plays conga drums, and Willie McNeil plays miscellaneous percussion on selected numbers; Bill Markus and Trevor Ware divide up the bass work. The musicians performing on "Orientation", the first CD released by The Elliott Caine Sextet, are as follows: Elliott Caine plays trumpet; Michael Rose and Chuck Manning share most of the tenor sax work, with Justo Almario playing tenor on one track, and Chuck Manning playing alto sax on one track; David Ralicke plays baritone sax throughout the record; Justin Reinhardt is the pianist, while Bill Markus performs on upright bass; drum duties are mostly assigned to Willie McNeil, though two tunes are left to the great West Coast drummer, Larance Marable, and congas and other percussion work are played by Ramon Banda.
