Funky, groove driven Latin jazz straight out of the UK. Jones, a
respected seasoned conguero is joined here by another — Snowboy, as
well as percussionist Bosco De Oliveira. Great sound and soul here,
fueled by funk, blues, the deep palette of jazz, and pop culture: TV
cop shows and movie car chase scenes come to mind. I could have
sworn I heard something like of "Miles Below" on the "Kill Bill"
soundtrack. There's also a no-holds-barred near eleven minute
version of "Manteca."
Nice full, sweeping arrangements with gutsy confident swing on these
seven tracks — four of which were penned by Baritone sax and flute
player Nick Walker. Jones, a respected player, has worked with a
who's who of notable bands: Dextor Gordon, Stan Getz, The Bee Gees,
Elton John, Mongo Santamaria, Charlie Palmieri, and Arturo Sandoval
to name a few. Check this one out.
