Review by LATIN LADY DJ MARGARITA La Perfecta Combinación is right, and in so many ways! If you haven't added this new release to your collection, stop what you're doing and go do so. Orquesta Yarey has graced us for the past 10 years with great music from their previous releases: Ahora Sí, El Músico and Ponme a Gozar, also featuring the vocal stylings of Chamy Solano. On this, their 4th release, La Perfecta Combinación, Orquesta Yarey invites world recognized vocalist Joe King to be a part of this perfect combination. This cd has it all, messages, substance, great arrangements, and hot salsa for the dancers! As a salsa dj, I always begin the evening with something that the beginners can follow. Something nice and easy, but with an upbeat tempo. Orquesta Yarey chooses Quien Eres Tú to lead the way as their first track, a story of a man who asks himself "Quien Eres Tú.. (who are you), that came into my life and left your scent and your mark on my heart. Now, loneliness knocks at the door. Ahí some of us can even recognize and relate. This track grabbed me from the first moment I heard it. The same holds true for the next track which really left an impression on me. So much that I called my colleague to share about it and recommended that he give it a listen. For what is music without the message? Track #2 is called Defensores de la Paz (Defenders of the Peace) and is dedicated to the American and Latino soldiers who bravely put on their uniforms and boots each day to fight in wars oversees, for our rights to live in peace and for our freedom. God bless them. This song delivers a really strong message, not only about the war being fought against terrorism, but also the wars on the home-front with our own neighbors and asks, why can't we get along? I think that this track remains one of my favorites. Don Pedrito was my next favorite because it brings to the ring a sense of chivalry, courage, decency and commitment, wrapped up in a little box called love. The boyfriend boldly faces the father and asks for his daughter's hand in marriage, proclaims his love for his daughter and promises to love and care for her. Is that even done anymore? On this track you'll notice just a special little something in the form of a splash of reggaetón courtesy of K-Libre & Dj TonyStar Tonka. Bonus track is the very popular Ponme a Gozar, which is definitely the hottest salsa dance track of the entire cd. The story of salsa lies within each arrangement. Take time to listen to the stories, seek their unique messages. Find the heartbeat of each song and forge from there your relationship to salsa.
