Review by Latin Lady Dj Margarita for VINILEMANIA.NET If you've ever wondered what it would have been like to experience the "Salsa Explosion" first-hand, then wonder no more! Jazz Hamilton y Las Estrellas Del Pueblo, deliver a heavy duty dose of... Salsa Gorda! "Relive" with this cd, as well as their DVD, the heart and soul of what the 70's in New York were all about... Salsa Clasica! Conceived, created & executed with a specific purpose in mind, Jazz Hamilton y Las Estrellas Del Pueblo deliver this excellent production, as a means by which they honor and pay tribute to the many great artists and composers, who have delighted us with their own signature styles and traditional salsa renditions for nearly half a century! On this endeavor you will be treated to a collection of well known favorites, as well as some new and original arrangements, along with an amazing list of guest vocalists. The list is truly incredible, the result is simply satisfying! Just take a look at the 15 featured and invited soneros on this album; Andy Montañez, Rafu Warner, Cano Estremera, Chamaco Rivera, Cheo Andujar, Bobby Concepcion, Luisito Carrion, Adalberto Santiago, Guillo Rivera, Primi Cruz, Puchi Rodriguez, Roberto Lugo, Nacho Sanabria, Camilo Azuquita & Meñique!!! Let us also not forget the coro, comprised of Henry Quintana, Mayra Carrasquillo & Carlos Hernandez, who together with the collaboration of our invited soneros helped make this project such a success! Musicians on this album include: Jazz Hamilton, Chris Cardella & Roberto Guevara on saxes, Dean Dukes, James Hossmer, Dale Edwards on trombones, Greg Little, Cesar Hernandez & Don Rogosinski on trumpets, James Figueroa, timbal Raphy Marin, congas George Perez, bongo Hector Mestre, drums Eddie "Guagua" Rivera, baby bass Gino Picart, e. piano What a gathering of amazing talent on a single project. There was, at any given moment, a total of 34 musicians and artists on stage, singing and playing their hearts out!! The energy was nothing short of contagious. No wonder the sound was explosive; with 3 trombones, 3 trumpets & 3 saxes, how could it be anything but extraordinary! Let us not forget to include and mention Jazz's lovely wife Elizabeth Hernandez who's voice is the one you hear on the introduction of this 'live" recording, which, if I may include, was recorded in it's entirety without enhancements or modifications of any kind. Truly... well done! Jazz Hamilton y Las Estrellas Del Pueblo, Live.. Vol 1, I thoroughly enjoyed this CD as well as the DVD and recommend it gladly. Can't wait to hear Vol. 2!!
