Review by Roberto Rabbi - courtesy www.salsa.it A percussionist originating in Uruguay, Edgardo Cambon, signs (in the compositions) and produces this optimal album, of which has already been extensively talked about in this months edition of “Latin Beat”. The CD presents itself in a well packaged cardboard cover which inside it contains a .pdf file where we can find the lyrics along with the "explanations" of the songs contained within, along with photos of the group. The official site of reference is: www.musicandela.com. The album contains 11 tracks for its 62" and sets off with two hard salsa tracks: ‘El flaco’ and ‘Yo vine a bailar la Salsa’. Following this is ‘Ciudad del Tango’ - that isn’t a Salsa Tango per se but is a Salsa track in which the original Bandoneon Argentino finds a true arrangement in the agrupacio salsera. This is the homage to the city of Buenos Aires from E.C. – something else that is not missed is the accents of Raggeton. In : ’El Agente 87‘ we find the sounds of those police TV serials from the 70’s (Quincy Jones) linked in to the hard salsa, the lyrics are confronted with the war in being, that have as their objective the control of the middle-eastern oil deposits. With “Tumba, Timba and Trombon” we pass onto the salsa / descarga; “Respeto pa' los Mayorees” is a Latin Jazz / Salsa with a great solo on the trombone; in “Ayer te Vi” (track 7) a fusion between salsa, Latin Jazz, and a Candombe rhythm (Uruguayan folklore) is proposed to us; again with it a superb solo on the trombone from Abel Figueroa. With "Maria Felicia" we touch the Montuno rhythms and the last two tracks are the Salsa / descarga “Corazon” and the Fusion – introduced by a Flamenco with some great Flamenco guitar solos… and then the Regaetton to flow definitively into a “classic" salsa: 'Que quiere Catalina?'. An extremely varied production, cult and interesting, great to listen to and to use on the consoles, also currently distributed through CdBaby.com
Recensione di Roberto Rabbi - courtesy www.salsa.it Percussionista di origine Uruguayana, Edgardo Cambon, firma (nelle composizoni) e produce questo ottimo album, di cui ha ampiamente parlato la rivista ‘Latin Beat’ nel numero del mese in corso. Il cd si presenta con un bel packaging cartonato e al suo interno contiene un file PDF dove si trovano i testi e le ‘spiegazioni’ delle canzoni nonche’ diverse foto del gruppo. Il sito di riferimento ufficiale e’ comunque : www.musicandela.com. L’album contiene 11 tracce per 62’ e parte con due brani di Salsa Dura: ‘El flaco’ e ‘Yo vine a bailar la Salsa’. Segue ‘Ciudad del Tango’ che non e’ un SalsaTango ma un brano Salsa in cui un originale Bandoneon Argentino trova una propria collocazione nell’ Agrupacio Salsera. E' questo un omaggio alla citta' di Buenos Aires da parte di E.C. - Non mancano – peraltro – accenni di Reggaeton. Ne :’ El Agente 87 ‘ si recupera il sound dei telefilm polizieschi americani anni ’70 ( Quincy Jones docet ) legato a quello della Salsa Dura, nel testo viene affrontato il problema delle guerre in essere , che hanno come obbiettivo il controllo dei giacimenti petroliferi mediorentali. Con ‘Tumba, Timba e Trombon’ si passa alla Salsa/Descarga; ‘Respeto pa’ los Mayorees’ e’ un LatinJazz/Salsa con ottimo assolo di Trombone; in ‘Ayer te Vi’ (track 7 ) viene proposta una Fusion tra Salsa, Latin Jazz e ritmo Candombe ( folklore Uruguayano ) , ancora un bell’ assolo di trombone di Abel Figueroa. Con ‘Maria Felicia’ si tocca il ritmo Montuno, le ultime due tracce sono la Salsa/Descarga ‘Corazon’ e la Fusion – introdotta da un Flamenco con assolo di chitarra Flamenca...e poi Regaetton per sfociare definitivamente in una ‘classica’ Salsa: 'Que quiere Catalina?'. Produzione estremamente variegata, colta e interessante , ottima sia per l’ascolto che per l’ uso in consolle, attualmente in distribuzione presso CdBaby.com
