It’s a year now that I have this CD in my playlist and so I think it quite rightly merits, at this point, a small but precious presentation...
“Recordando Cuba..” (Remembering Cuba) is the title for which the pianist, composer Leonel “Papo” Ortega and his musical group “Cubanoson” have chosen for their musical debut which perfectly hits the mark.
The CD is made up of 10 tracks that present the music and the traditional sounds of Cuba. 4 are the number of original tracks are composed and arranged by the same Papo Ortega (Cubanoson, Recordando a Cuba, Guaiiro Soy and Son Bailadores).
The excellent arrangements and the impeccable execution undertaken by this Cuban orchestra from New York make each and every track a valid one for both listening to and for dancing.
The warm voice of the same Papo Ortega alternates with that of the great Chico Alvarez on the first and fifth track. It should also be noted the presence of Ronnie Baro who sings in French on the track “Monsieur Josè” as a gift to the European and Canadian public.
A CD with a great musical quality where it really is difficult to signal out a certain track on it’s own (they are all good to listen to over and over again) and the only advice that I believe I should be giving for an album like this is to suggest that you buy it straight away.

E’ da un oltre un anno che nella mia programmazione musicale è costantemente presente la musica di questo CD che merita, a questo punto, un piccola e doverosa presentazione…
“Recordando a Cuba…” è il titolo con cui il pianista,compositore Leonel “Papo” Ortega e il suo gruppo musicale “Cubanoson” hanno scelto per il loro azzeccato esordio musicale.
Il CD si compone di 10 brani che ripropongono le musiche e le sonorità tradizionali di Cuba. 4 sono i brani originali composti ed arrangiati dallo stesso Papo Ortega (Cubanoson, Recordando a Cuba, Guajiro Soy e Son Bailadores).
Gli eccellenti arrangiamenti e l’impeccabile esecuzione da parte di questa nuova Orchestra Cubana di New York rendono tutti i brani adatti sia all’ascolto che al ballo.
La calda voce dello stesso Papo Ortega si alterna con quella del grande Chico Alvarez nel primo e nel quinto brano. Da segnalare anche la presenza di Ronnie Baro che canta in francese in “Monsieur Josè” per omaggiare il pubblico Europeo e Canadese.
Una CD di grande qualità musicale dove è veramente difficile segnalare un brano rispetto ad un altro (si lasciano tutti piacevolmente ascoltare più e più volte) e l’unico consiglio che mi sento di dare è quello di suggerirne l’acquisto.
