Review by Latin Lady Dj Margarita for WWW.VINILEMANIA.NET Recordando a Cuba, a cd with heartfelt passion and substance . Great original music, all of which can be described as danceable selections. If you're in the market for a great new dance cd, then "Recordando a Cuba" should be right up there at the top of your shopping list. What a wonderful project this is. Under the direction of band leader and arranger Leonel "Papo" Ortega, the talented members of Cubanoson will literally have you dancing from the first track "Cubanoson" through the entire cd. Recordando a Cuba opens with "Cubanoson" - track # 1 which introduces the Orquesta while at the same time, the song describes the traditional rhythm "Son". Stating that they always carry Cuba in their hearts and always follow their traditions. The song goes on to describe the musicians and the integral part that each plays in this group and the inspiration that springs forth from their roots. Listen closely for Papo's piano solo. It's all "corazon" and tradition. What a great song to open with! Monsieur Jose -track # 2 is a new arrangement that includes coros and lyrics in French as a special treat for the Orquesta's European and Canadian friends. The song is about a man who is asking for help to be able to learn how to speak French so that he can convey his sentiments to this his French sweetheart. One of my favorites is track 3 - "Recordando a Cuba" which has a very upbeat tempo and never loses it's momentum, while simultaneously transporting you to that "Loma" in queridisima Cuba. Very sassy! A dancers delight. If you're also a piano enthusiast as I am, then you'll again be treated to a lovely piano solo by Papo Ortega. Recordando a Cuba is a compilation of songs deeply rooted in traditional Cuban life, love, home and values, all united and presented with open arms and heart lovingly to the world. You can feel the love in each number as the musicians share this love for their Cuba, their families and friends through the music they share here. Additional tracks include: En la campiņa, No te preocupes, Que mala suerte, Guajira Soy, Son Bailadores, Mujeres de Mayari, Lagrimas Negras. Leonel "Papo" Ortega will literally take you to the heart of Cuba with this masterful presentation called "Recordando a Cuba" To purchase "Recordando a Cuba" - http://www.cubanoson.com/html/music-cd.html Traditional Cuban, Original Son Montunos, Guajiras Highly Recommended
