Edgardo Cintron
Timbales
more tracks can be heard on Vinilemania's Radio Channels
review by Bruce Polin - courtesy www.descarga.com New Jersey based Cintron, led by timbalero Edgardo Cintron, has a dedicated local following. The band is made up of seasoned musicians that "blend Caribbean rhythms with dance friendly Latin Jazz, crossover Latin Pop, bilingual salsa, and old-school R&B." This latest project features jazzy salsa, Latin soul, a Philly soul medley (Together - I'm Stone In Love With You - You Take My Heart Away - La La Means I Love You) and more. It's all well done, very danceable and a heck of a lot fun. The band can jam, too. Check out the jazz-descarga "Eddie's Influence" and hear what they can do. Cintron's timbales nearly explode on this one. Also with conguero Hector Rosado, trombonist Don Collins, singers Anthony Bartolomeo, Tony Perez, Rocco and Bob DePersia, and JAYAR. Much of Cintron will appeal to oldies radio fans (Cousin Brucie or Rhythm Review with Felix Hernández), but I'm a sucker for falsetto... Highly Recommended. (BP, 2007-12-21)
