Review by Latin Lady Dj Margarita for VINILEMANIA.NET The attainment of any goal or challenge must truly be an indescribable experience, for in that attainment lies every single moment of joy, frustration, disappointment, happiness and more of the journey, from the moment of conceptualization, to the triumphant cheer of the dream's fruition. As in any other goal that one set's for themselves, there is always going to be that one "path of least resistance" as an option to travel on. That easier way, the one where you don't have to risk much or take chances as often. Just keep on that path and you'll get to the end. However, the question which often perplexes so many is this... just how thrilled are you when you get there? How exciting was your overall journey, was it the adventure you'd hoped it would be? Would you venture to go there again? And so on and so forth. Alex Wilson has "boldly" trekked those exciting new paths, breaking with some traditions while creating new ones. Delivering what I'm sure many will agree is a most triumphant performance on this his most recent and second crossover album "Salsa Con Soul". "Salsa Con Soul" is simply stated, a superb melting of sultry salsa rhythms, English lyrics, savory soul such as "Let's Stay Together", (a song synonymous with singer Al Green) coupled with Latin Jazz and finally, incorporating deep rich sounds of gospel! The intense fusion and heat induced by this album promises to leave one somewhat euphoric and in a very fluid state mind. Honorable mentions to Wayne Ellington, Aquilla Fearon and Naomi Phillips for such exquisite vocal work. Truly inspirational. An absolutely powerhouse of heartfelt music that reaches down to the very core of your existence. To our salsa dancers I say this, do not fear, think twice or hesitate to get this album. I'm sure you'll be as blown away as I was by it and elated that you can dance to it as well! Congratulations to Alex Wilson and crew on an outstanding project!
